Quebert :: Puppy

Hearing Dog puppy Quebert looking suitably handsome

Quebert was a Hearing Dog puppy socialised in Milton Keynes. He was with his socialisers from 10 weeks old until he went in for his assessment when he was just over a year old.

He is a Labrador x Golden Retriever and finished his training at the Grange in January 2008. He is now living with his recipient and should make a huge difference to their life. In December 2009 he passed his final and is now a fully-fledged hearing dog.

Mocha :: Puppy

Hearing Dog Puppy Mocha

Mocha is a Chocolate Lab x Cocker Spaniel. He was about 5 months old in this picture and took his training seriously. He was very social and enjoyed the company of children and other puppies. He quickly became house trained and was sleeping through the night within a few weeks.

Mocha was socialised in Milton Keynes and was attentive, caring and always willing to please. However, after a hard day’s play Mocha liked to relax and consider what tomorrow might bring.

Mocha passed his final in the Autumn of 2009 and is now a fully trained Hearing Dog. He and his recipient have developed a good relationship with a strong bond and work well together.

Jamie :: Puppy

Jamie

Jamie is another puppy that was socialised in Milton Keynes. He is a Havanese x Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, born in November 2007 and donated to Hearing Dogs by his breeder. He is a delightful and very affectionate dog and is great with children and adults. He has recently finished his training at The Grange and is now out with his recipient so we wish him good luck.

Daisy :: Puppy

Daisy

Daisy is a Yellow Labrador who came over from Ireland with her sister – who is also being socialised in Milton Keynes. We understand that she might have come from breeding stock for aid dogs as she has such a gentle nature and is extremely bright.

She quickly adjusted to her new home and is very relaxed with her new surroundings – she regularly meets other dogs on her walks and manages to interact well. By the tender age of 11 weeks, Daisy will sit and wait and is learning to lie down on command. So far her recall to her name and to the whistle is excellent – but that can change as she starts to mature. A typical Lab – she is motivated by food and is having to learn not to investigate everything she finds on her walks.

Local people have been kind in helping her to become adjusted to the bustle and sounds of the area; the milkman stopped and rattled some bottles for her, the Postman stroked her – provided she did not jump up at him, horse riders and cat owners have been equally kind.

In the forthcoming months, Daisy will visit the MK shopping centre, train platforms and take a bus ride all in preparation for her future life as a Hearing Dog.

Cleo :: Puppy

Cleo

Cleo is a Cocker-poo (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle) and was born in October 2009. She is a result of the breeding programme run by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and her father is Sooty who lives with another member of the MK & District branch. She is being socialised in Leighton Buzzard and has settled down very well. She is very much a puppy, full of energy and mischief. Her obedience is improving and she will sit and lie down on command. Her ‘waits’ need a bit of work.

She goes to puppy class at the Hearing Dog centre in Saunderton every two weeks where she meets other dogs in socialising. She often meets two of her siblings at these classes.

She is very friendly and confident and loves people making a fuss of her. She will gradually be introduced to different situations such as visiting town centres and going on public transport.
