Beni :: Puppy

Beni

Beni is a Shih Tzu puppy and was donated to the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People by a breeder. He was born on Boxing Day, 26th December 2010, and is multi-coloured white with shades of brown, grey & black.

He is being socialised by one of our members, Mary in Newton Longville. The image shows Beni at 16 weeks old when he was getting used to traffic, people, shops and other exciting and interesting new sights and sounds. He might be small but his little legs make him very quick and nimble. He already knew the sit and down signal and was learning to “sit” at the pavement edge.

He had recently taken part in his first fund-raising event and was very popular with adults and children. He was also very popular at a talk given about Hearing Dogs at a school in Milton Keynes.

He appeared on television on the Alan Titchmarsh show. He sat on Alan Titchmarsh’s lap and was very good – even falling asleep at one moment!

Beni attended fortnightly puppy-classes at The Grange to learn new skills during 2011 and passed his Kennel Club Bronze Award on 27th October 2011.

He has now been accepted onto the next stage of his training which will be at the Grange and started on 4th January 2012.

Mary says “Beni has been a joy to socialise. He is a wonderful little character and I wish him the very best of luck on the next stage of his training to become a fully fledged Hearing Dog.”

April 2012 update – Beni passed his foundation course on the 8th March and is being matched to his lady recipient. Together they will learn to work with each other for their partnership certificate. We will let you know of his progress and wish them both the very best.
