Charity Champion Awards in Westminster
Date: Tuesday December 8, 2009

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People recently had the honour of presenting the Outstanding Achievement award at a prestigious ceremony in London recognising MPs for their charity work.
More than 200 people attended the Charity Champion Awards in Westminster, including MPs, peers and charity representatives.
Hearing Dogs attracted lots of interest with the impeccably-behaved Gus (a Bolognese) with his deaf recipient Dee Sanderson, who both joined the Chairman of the Trustees, Faith Clark, on stage to present Lord Archer of Sandwell with his award. Lord Archer had earlier spent time talking with Dee about how Gus helps her in her daily life.
Many people visited the Hearing Dogs display stand, which featured leaflets, posters and a visual presentation of recipients with their dogs. Several MPs took an interest in access and inclusion issues, and also had the chance to speak with Hearing Dogs’ Access and Inclusion Officer, Phil Biggs, who attended with his hearing dog Marsh. It’s hoped these networks will lead to positive future developments.
