Dogs’ Dinner

Date: Saturday June 16, 2007

Dog's dinner being enjoyed

The Milton Keynes and District branch of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People arranged its first Dogs’ Dinner on the 16th June, Doreen Monk writes about the event.

Organised on the whole by Elizabeth a resident at the Bekonscot Court and some of her friends, including Janet Durbidge and myself, we hosted around 30 people to bangers and mash followed by apple pie and cream. Joan Harrington gave a talk on Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, we had a dog recognition competition that was extremely difficult to solve and the afternoon ended with coffee and chat. It was an enjoyable afternoon and we raised just over £140 pounds which is earmarked for some equipment for our branch which has only recently been formed.

The day was a mixture of sunshine and showers, it was a grand day and gave the residents an opportunity to mix and gossip with each other, they have asked for the experience to be repeated and Janet and I are very happy about that as it shows that we can organise such things for the benefit of many different people.

If you are interested in holding your own Dogs’ Dinner to raise funds for our branch or would like to join in with our next one please get in touch.
