Events with the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade
Date: Tuesday May 13, 2008

The Milton Keynes branch was invited to give the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade some assistance for their showcase in Middleton Hall, Milton Keynes on Easter Saturday, March 22nd 2008. The various Rotary Clubs in Bucks and Beds took over the Hall to showcase what they do, and to show people some of the projects that they have supported, including Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
As this was a publicity event, we busily prepared some hand-outs and posters for display, and to raise awareness of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, including our fund-raising branch. We had a rota of Hearing Dogs and puppies throughout the day who drew the crowds attention and thoroughly enjoyed all the fuss they got.

It turned out to be a hugely successful day, Middleton Hall was packed with visitors. The event certainly boosted our profile, and our thanks go to the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade who allowed us to display our posters alongside theirs.
The next event we had with the Rotary Club of Linslade was at the popular May Day Fayre on Monday 7th May in Leighton Buzzard. Thousands of visitors go to this highly entertaining event on May Day each year, so it was an excellent opportunity for the Milton Keynes branch to have a stall.

We were delighted to have a sunny day after such a heavy downpour last year. We sold mainly car boot stuff and held our soft toy game, which drew people to our stall, enabling us to raise £167.

The biggest star at our stall was HD puppy Byron, brought along by socialisers Paul and Jackie Niven , local residents who came to support us. People passing by stopped to admire and stroke Byron and he just loved all the attention!
