Thrift Farm Open Day

Date: Wednesday May 20, 2009

Thrift Farm is located in Whaddon, Bucks and is a Rural Training Centre for Adults with Learning Difficulties. They had very kindly invited us to man a stall at their Open Day on 20th May 2009 so that visitors could meet and stroke our Hearing Dogs. It was therefore mainly a publicity day for us but we were able to put up a Guess the Name of the Dog game, alongside a lucky dip and our popular soft toy game.

For the first time we used a sign language interpreter, which made a difference to the deaf volunteers, especially when visitors asked questions about our Hearing dogs. We also welcomed our new chairperson, Helen Peters, who helped us at the stand for the first time. We raised £165 by the end of the day, not a bad amount raised for a publicity day.
